Addressing the Future of Warfare: The Proliferation of Autonomous Weapons
The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) will address The Future of Warfare: The Proliferation of Autonomous Weapons. Autonomous weapons, often referred to as Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems (LAWS), are military technologies capable of identifying and engaging targets with minimal or no human involvement. Their development raises pressing questions under international humanitarian law, particularly regarding accountability, civilian protection, and the risk of a new arms race. In this committee, delegates will examine how such systems could change the nature of global conflict as well as consider and debate the future of these weapon systems. This committee promises to be both futuristic and relevant in modern politics, demanding creativity, diplomacy, and thoughtful debate.
